Reverend Teresa Hicks accepted the Lord as her personal
savior at the age of 14 while under the pastorate of the late Reverend Ross B. Rainey; pastor of the Mother Church of God
In Christ. While under this pastorate she accepted a call to the ministry at
the age of twenty one.
Though her
earlier years of ministry where extremely difficult, through these difficulties she has learned that ‘we are troubled
on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed’.
Reverend Hicks
and her spouse served faithfully at the New
Community Church of God from 1990 until 1998-99 when the Lord led them to serve at the Cathedral of Fresh Fire, under the
pastorate of Reverend Emma L. Creamer. Reverend Hicks was ordained under this
pastorate in 1999. At the Cathedral of Fresh Fire she established a children’s
church ministry for children ages 3-12, served as a Ruling Elder, Administrative Assistant for the Fire House Youth Church
where she assisted in training the Youth Church to prepare them to assume leadership positions in the Senior Church, and an
instructor for the “Lord’s Army” Bible School.
Reverend Hicks
has designed and facilitated various training
seminars to assist the servants of God in the advancement of the Kingdom of God. She has served as a mentor and counselor to countless individuals both inside and
outside of the Christian community. Reverend Hicks believes that her goal in life is to be that “city of refuge”
where the weary traveler can come and find solace for their souls.
Reverend Hicks
has also served as a volunteer and staff chaplain
for Christiana Care and has offered bible study to the residents of the Sacred
Heart Village senior high-rise
community.
In January
of 2004, Reverend Hicks accepted the position of Assistant Pastor of the New Community Church of God, under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Edward
Cross, Sr. Her goal was to assist Reverend Cross in building a people of God by giving them the tools necessary to achieve
greatness in their service to our Great God. In May of 2005 Rev. Hicks was honored
at the Markevic Johnson Scholarship Banquet as a Women of Distinction for her work in the religious community.
Following
the divine plan of God, on Sunday October 7, 2007 Reverend
Hicks became Pastor and Founder of The Tabernacle
Shalom Worship Center, Inc. with services being held at the Edgemore
Community Center. The Tabernacle Shalom Worship Center functions
under the apostolic covering of Kingdom Fellowship Covenant Ministries; Bishop Ralph Dennis, presiding prelate.
The Lord
is blessing The Tabernacle Shalom and on Sunday, September 12th 2010 The Tabernacle Shalom Worship Center will celebrate and
dedicate our new location to the Lord. Our new facility is located at 98 Harvey Road, Claymont Delaware.
Reverend Hicks
received an Associates of Arts in Biblical
Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Urban Ministry Leadership from Geneva
College’s Center for Urban Theological Studies. A prolific preacher, teacher and psalmist, her earnest desire is ‘to know Him in the power of His
resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering, being made conformable unto his death’.
Reverend Hicks
is a member of the Interdenominational Ministers
Action Council of Delaware and is married to Elder Norris E. Hicks, Jr.
